Climbs hills I used to walk up

I live at the top of a brutal hill and used to get off and push my old bike. On assist level 3 the Calder just goes up it at 15 mph without straining. The suspension makes the gravel section of my ride feel like pavement. Took about 20 minutes to put together out of the box.

Replaced my second car

I commute 14 miles round trip four days a week and still get home with a bit over half the battery left. Charging it in the apartment is easy since the battery pops right out. Only note: it is heavy, so if you have stairs plan for that.

Beach and trails, no problem

Rode it on packed sand at low tide and through wet single-track the same weekend. The fat tires float instead of digging in. Hydraulic brakes actually stop you when you're carrying speed downhill, which I did not expect at this price.

Great ride, wish the display was brighter

Comfortable step-through frame — I'm 5'2" and it fits me fine. Range has been around 45 miles with mostly throttle, which is fair. The only thing I'd change is the LCD; in direct Texas sun it's a little hard to read.

Rides in the rain all week

Six weeks of daily commuting through Portland drizzle and nothing has rattled loose or corroded. I added fenders and a rack. Torque off the line is genuinely fun — you beat cars away from the light.

My husband and I both got one

We're 63 and 66 and ride the neighborhood trails together most evenings. The step-through makes getting on easy, and pedal assist 1 is a gentle push rather than a jolt. Shipping took eight days and support answered my email the same day.
